Building a bonfire

We are fast approaching bonfire night and have already noticed a number of bonfires being lit in Lansbury Park. We understand this is a lot of fun for some people but just ask that you ensure you are safe when building and lighting these fires.

I have had some advice from South Wales Fire and rescue service on what you MUST NOT DO when burning bonfires -

Don't burn household waste: or anything that creates excessive smoke or fumes.

Don't burn plastic, rubber tires, foam, or painted materials, as these are harmful and could lead to a prosecution by the council.

Don't use accelerants: like petrol or oil, as this can cause loss of control.

Don't let the smoke cause a nuisance, especially for neighbours.

Don't leave the fire unattended: or create risks to people or property.
